Our story
Well hellooooo! My name is Miranda but many call me M. Rod. I specialize in formal wear alterations, custom pattern making and making impossible situations, possible. (*waives Fairy Godmother wand*)
An Austin, TX unicorn at heart I was born and raised in this beautiful city. I have been designing and sewing my entire life thanks to my AMAZING grandmother and mother - because of them I’m the free, artistic and bold seamstress you see today. In 2009 I attended art school in Chicago where I earned my BA in Fashion Design and Marketing Management. Shortly after I started working with a couple of local tailoring shops as I began perfecting my craft. After being promoted to Head Seamstress at the David’s Bridal South location, in July of 2021 I made the bold decision to open the doors of my very first shop. All of this while simultaneously raising my two super dope kids Harlem and Charlotte (you will hear about them a lot).
When designing my business, I set out to create a space where I could give everyone the opportunity to be creative and help their visions come to life. Meet the magical Valery! Valery has 15+ years of hands on experience under her seamstress belt. She specializes in custom pattern making, formal wear and cosplay. Her resume includes the titles of Alterations Manager at David’s Bridal (North) and Head Seamstress at the South location. A true perfectionist in every thing she does, Valery is a central part of M.Rod Custom Design and Alterations with skillsets ranging from custom lace creation to quilting to custom jewelry design.
